Christa McCaw  |  Coaching Assistant

2016 - Christa McCaw enters her first season at Chadron State as the volleyball Coaching Assistant. She will be involved in day-to-day volleyball activities such as recruiting, compliance, fundraising, camps, equipment, stats, and video.

Prior to joining the Eagles, McCaw served as a Graduate Assistant at NCAA Division II Pfeiffer University (N.C.), where her primary assignment was coaching defense for both the men's and women's volleyball teams. Her 2015 men's team swept through the Conference Carolinas tournament nine sets to zero in three matches, and qualified for the NCAA Championships.

At Pfeiffer, McCaw was also in charge of organizing fundraising opportunities for both the programs.

McCaw played Division II volleyball at Pittsburg State University, competing as a Libero/DS for four years. During her sophomore season, McCaw was voted All-Conference.

She coached club for five years where she helped with administrative duties. McCaw has also served as a lead trainer at Carolina Courts in Concord, North Carolina.


Paula Okrutna  |  Coaching Assistant

2016 - Okrutna joins the Eagles for their 2016 campaign as a coaching assistant.

The former Pittsburg State University middle blocker was a two-time All-MIAA honorable mention selection in 2013 and 2014, after earning All-America honorable mention honors her freshman season at Fort Scott Community College.

As a freshman at Fort Scott, her 573 kills and 4.98 kills per set were new Fort Scott Community College season records and she ranked as tops in the nation for kills per set in 2011.

Prior to her college volleyball career in the U.S., her 2010-11 club team in Poland won their league championship and was therefore promoted to the highest level of club volleyball in the country. 


Nikki Schmidt  |  Graduate Assistant

2016 - Nikki Schmidt enters her first season as graduate assistant under first-year head coach Riann Mullis.

Schmidt is a Chadron State volleyball alum after joining the program in 2013 as a junior right side hitter. In 2013 she played in 93 sets for the Eagles and recorded 144 kills. That year, Schmidt was second on the team in assists with 174 and recorded 115 digs as well. She finished the season with 37 blocks.

After some time off in 2014, she returned to the team and finished her career as an Eagle in 2015.

Previously, she attended Northeastern Junior College where she was second on her team in 2012 in both kills and blocks per set, playing right side and setter.
